LAHORE| In another significant step to ensure well-being for the journalism fraternity, the Punjab Information Ministry and the Ravi Development and Dwelling Authority approved a total of 3,200 housing plots for journalists. In a major landmark development, Secretary Information Tahirza Hamdani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RDDA CEO Imran Amin. Punjab spokesman Azma Bokhari and LPC President Arshad Ansari were also present there.
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to streamline the land transfer process
for housing plots intended for journalists. The process of allocation in this
regard will be transparent. Azma Bokhari assured that the process would be
transparent.
Application Forms for Council Members,
Forms will be available at the Lahore Press Club. For non-council members,
forms will be available through the Directorate General Public Relations.
Eligibility Criteria
Merit certificates will be used to
determine eligibility. There will be no scope for recommendations.
Improvements in journalist housing
schemes Bokhari announced the near completion of Phase II of the Journalist
Housing Scheme. He promised to make this a continuous effort towards the
provision of affordable housing for journalists.
A long-standing issue with respect to
F-Block in LPC Housing Society has been cleared under the orders of Chief
Minister Maryam Nawaz, thus paving the way for smoother implementation.
A History in Punjab
This housing project is the first
time in the history of Punjab that such a large-scale initiative has been
launched for journalists. It reflects the commitment of the government to
support and enhance the welfare of the media community.
