Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the closure of its Pak ID website starting January 17, 2025. All services will now be accessible through a newly enhanced mobile app, designed to improve user experience and address security concerns.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed during a recent workshop that citizens, especially overseas Pakistanis, faced significant challenges with the website. Key issues included difficulties in scanning and uploading fingerprints and other documents.
The upgraded mobile app will offer a comprehensive range of services, including:
Applications for National Identity Cards (CNIC)
NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis)
POC (Pakistan Origin Card)
B-Forms
Family Registration Certificates (FRC)
Citizens will now be able to complete these procedures conveniently from their homes.
The transition to the mobile app also aims to combat fraudulent activities. Fake websites have previously exploited citizens' data to create counterfeit identification documents. To counter this, NADRA is collaborating with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to ensure robust security measures and maintain the system's integrity.
In addition to launching the app, NADRA plans to open three new regional centers by March 31, 2025, in:
Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Gwadar
Gilgit-Baltistan
These centers aim to improve service delivery in remote areas and address citizens’ concerns more efficiently.
Minister Naqvi also highlighted that 19 tehsils across Pakistan currently lack NADRA offices. Efforts are underway to establish facilities in these areas by the end of March 2025.
The revamped mobile app and expanded regional offices signify NADRA’s commitment to modernizing services and ensuring accessibility for all citizens, enhancing convenience and security across the nation.
